Beech Grove Open

Location: Beech Grove Christian Church, Roseland, Virginia
Approximately two hours from Richmond or
Roanoke, Virginia

Cost: FREE!! Our gracious host, the Beech Grove Christian Church will even provide lunch free of charge. No trophies will be awarded to allow us to offer this tournament free of charge.

Sleeping: The church will be open Friday night for teams to sleep in, or if you give us enough advance notice, we can try to provide homes for you to stay in.

Style: Nazarene questions and rules.

Competition: As of yet undecided. An effort will be made to guarantee each team as many quizzes as possible.
There will be JV* and Varsity Divisions.
*All quizzers in JV must be 9th grade and below, no exceptions.

Registration: E-mail Tate Love at wrnbldg@aol.com on or before August 31, 2003, with the (1) name of your team, (2) the division you wish to quiz in, (3) the names of your team members, (4) how many lunches you will require and (5) what arrangement you need for Friday night.

 Directions and approximate driving times
to Beech Grove Christian Church

From Roanoke take 81 North; @ Staunton get on 64 East
Travel 64 E until top of Afton Mountain, Exit 99.
At end of Exit bear right on 250 East toward
Richmond. Go to foot of mountain (approx. 4 mi.)
Take Right on Rt. 151 (fact is, only turn you can take is right
on 151.) Check your odometer; from where you turn you will go 15 miles (passing through the town of Nellysford). About 2 miles beyond Nellysford, you will see signs which say “Ski Entrance to Wintergreen”. Turn right on Beech Grove Road (at Ski Barn which is highly visible). Continue for 1 mile down Beech Grove Road and the Church is a stone Church on the left.

Approximate driving time from Roanoke is 2 hrs-
2 ½ hrs.) Depends on how fast you drive. But
sometimes Rt. 151 goes slow—a 2 lane road and
trucks going to Wintergreen.

From Richmond: Take 64 West to Exit 107. Go West on 250.
You will turn left on 151. (Then follow blue directions above.

Approximate driving time: 2 hrs.

Either way you come, when you exit the Interstate you are approximately 19 or 20 miles from Church.

Hint: a If for any reason you get lost, the best question to ask anyone is how to get to the Ski Entrance to Wintergreen.
